"The origins of the family name DAVIES. This ancient family name is on of the most popular in Wales, and legend has it that they were descended from Cynrig Efell, Lord of Eglwysegle, great grandson of the Prince of Powys who was head of the third Royal Tribe of Wales.
Early recordings of the name can also be fund in Cambridgeshire, where a John Dauisse was recorded in 1327, and a Richard Davys lived in Yorkshire in 1402.
It was only during the 11th Century that the use of surnames was introduced to the British Isles by the Normans. They were usually local (a place or landmark), patronymic ("son of"), a trade or profession name, or a nickname.
Davies is patronymic, meaning "son of Davy".
The ancient motto was HEB DDUW, HEB DDIM, DUW A DIGON, meaning "Without God, without anything, God is enough".

"November 1st, 1929. Air Ship R 101 flew over Newmarket in the afternoon between the hours of half past two to three o'clock, the weather was grand for the site being clear and sunny."
The interesting thing about this is that she remembers seeing it on that flight as a young child of almost 6. They were living on the farm and all went out to watch and exclaim over this huge thing in the sky. It did not make it to London, as exploded and burnt before making it that far.
